and the Traverse Area Chamber of Commerce.
James C. Smith Fine Jewelry is the authority on all things jewelry. We carry a wide range of custom-made rings, earrings, pendants, as well as loose colored stones and diamonds. Always taking your ideas and wishes into consideration, we are determined to find or make the right piece for you. Much of the jewelry in our cases is designed and crafted on-site. With custom pieces, you won't see the same items elsewhere.
We can provide you with detailed advice on material and design, draw up the initial drafts, carve a wax model, and incorporate your ideas. Custom designed jewelry is our specialty. Recognizing the growing role of computer technology in the jewelry industry, we invested in Matrix jewelry design software. Used by many famous jewelry designers and taught in more than 55 schools and universities, Matrix
is the most advanced tool for jewelry design. We have the tools to design virtual 3-D jewelry on screen and create photo-realistic images of our designs.
We also offer in-house jewelry repair service. We are one of the few establishments that have a laser micro welding machine. This piece of equipment gives us the ability to fix things that a torch and solder just can’t access. Using concentrated beams of light, we never have to fear for stones that are unable to take the heat. This means we can do more complicated repairs that others may have to turn away.
Our store was honored as the fourth coolest small store in the nation (America's Coolest Stores, 2013)--an award bestowed by the jewelry store publication Instore Magazine.
